The Twin Cities Indie Business Awards are held annually to celebrate the many economic and social benefits that local, independent business have on our communities.

 

 

SAINT PAUL, Minn. (June 8, 2018) Due to overwhelming response, MetroIBA is extending our nomination deadline to June 30, 2018.  The Twin Cities Indie Business Awards will honor five local, independent businesses chosen for their impact on the community. Nominations are open to all.

“The character of the Twin Cities is created by locally-owned, independent businesses. These local, indies create much-needed jobs and economic diversity while providing unequaled customer service. We are excited to celebrate these businesses which may not usually be in the public limelight, but which have been leaders in serving their customers and communities for years,” says Metro Independent Business Alliance managing director Jill Peuranen. “The Indie Awards are a way to honor local, independent businesses and give them the recognition they deserve.”

 

Any business or individual may submit their nominations for the five categories:

Founders: A business with a consistent and long-term impact on the local community.

2016 Indie Awards: IMAGEHAUS, Cafe SouthSide, Minneapolis Craft Market, Susan Campion, Community Shares of MN

Impact: A business committed to positively influencing the community through local sourcing and sustainable business practices.

Emerging: A business in its beginning stages and is stepping to the forefront of our local independent business community.

Nonprofit: A nonprofit that exemplifies giving back to the local community and upholding the values of our mission.

The Gary Mazzone Award: An individual who advocates for local independent business in a way that inspires others.

 

2017 Indie Award winners: Bartmann Group, TechDump, Golden Fig Fine Foods, Harvey Zuckman, The Herbivorous Butcher

Then watch as the winners are announced at the Twin Cities Indie Business Awards event in November.
